Survey data

Available dataset

The following survey data are available for download from the Family Transfers Project:

i. Cross-sectional, individual-level data
Women
Men

i. Cross-sectional, couple data
Husbands and wives
Parents*
* Users should also download the dictionary files for the parents' sample.

iii. Longitudinal, individual-level data
MDICP-1 and Transfers, Women
MDICP-1 and Transfers, Men

In order to make the data suitable for public use all names of individuals and villages have been removed from the data (not only for respondents but also for their named network partners in the social networks component of the questionnaire). Users who would like to have access to these names in order to conduct follow-up research on any of our samples (which we encourage), and users interested in special data configurations, should contact us.

Access

The FTP data are available to researchers unconditionally. However, in order to be able to communicate with the users about data-related issues that might arise in the future, we need to know who is using them. For this reason, we request that the users fill out a registration form prior to downloading the files.

Because of the widespread concern about Internet privacy, we wish to stress the complete confidentiality of the Social Networks website. The information we gather will not be used for any commercial purposes.

Download

Users can download any of the data in STATA format (we recommend Stat/Transfer to change the format to SAS, SPSS or some other statistical platform). To download, simply double-click on the file(s) above of your choice and, when prompted, enter the username and password that you have previously selected when registering.

Note that to save space and reduce transfer time all files are compressed. To uncompress the files use either the free software Winzip or a DOS/UNIX-based utility, such as pkzip.

If you have any problem downloading the data, please contact us.
